Today we have been celebrating D Day with Cyril and all of his friends at Bank Hall
Cyril signed up to the army in 1947 at the age of 18.
Cyril had to go through tests to find out which sector of the army he was going to work in.
After the tests were complete they called up his last 3 digits of his number 437 and he was put into the air force where he then spent 9 years mending jet engines in Europe.
Cyril enjoyed being in the air force and met many pals who many stayed on in the air force after Cyril left.
Cyril left the air force after meeting his dear wife Doris, they then lived a happy life together in Burnley with their two children.
