A dementia diagnosis can be upsetting and unsettling for all concerned, that’s why we aim to take away the pressure and distress from you and your family and restore the calm and well-being atmosphere back into your lives. Our trained dementia care professionals provide customised care to meet your individual needs and wishes, focusing on the resident’s strengths and abilities.

What is dementia?

Dementia is a syndrome associated with an ongoing decline of the brain and its abilities. This includes problems with memory loss, language, judgement, confusion, depression and many more.

People with dementia can become apathetic or uninterested in their usual activities, and have problems controlling their emotions. They may also find social situations challenging, lose interest in socialising, and aspects of their personality may change.

A person with dementia may lose empathy (understanding and compassion), they may see or hear things that other people do not (hallucinations), or they may make false claims or statements.

As dementia affects a person’s mental abilities, they may find planning and organising difficult. Maintaining their independence may also become a problem. A person with dementia will therefore usually need help from friends or relatives, including help with decision making.

Our Dementia Care Homes

Bank Hall 0613-10

All our Dementia care staff are highly trained and have an excellent understanding of the different types of dementia and the symptoms involved. One of the most important requirements for our care professionals is a high level of assessment skills not just of paper-based tests, but in observing and responding to the frustrations and behaviour changes as a result of the condition.

We ensure comprehensive history of each resident and information about their day-to-day life is carried out as part of the assessment, so our residents maintain their independence and continue on living a happy fulfilling life without sacrificing any of their regular routines and daily interest.
