Rochcare Specialist Dementia Care Home
Being diagnosed with dementia can be a worrying and upsetting time for you and your family. Our specialist dementia care homes in Lancashire, Scarlett House and Coniston House, have been intentionally designed to meet the needs of those living with dementia, and to bring some calm and reassurance into the life of the person living with dementia and their concerned family.
Both homes provide a safe, secure and homely environment with staff on duty round the clock who have been specifically trained in supporting and safeguarding people with dementia. The homes are fully equipped to cater for all needs and are spa-cious enough to offer plenty of room for residents to relax in the company of others or enjoy some quiet time alone.
There are many things that make our specialist dementia care homes stand out from the crowd including our exceptional facili-ties, the quality of the décor and furnishings, and the fabulous home cooked meals (all prepared by our professional chefs). But perhaps the first thing visitors notice, and which we regularly get complimented on, is the warm relationships between residents and staff. We believe this makes a real difference to the lives of those living in our homes and offers peace of mind to their fami-lies too.
Our approach is to see beyond the dementia diagnosis and work with the person on the basis of their strengths, abilities, unique life history, personal preferences and individual needs. It is a highly respectful approach which ensures the dignity of the individ-ual and promotes optimum quality of life.
Fun and Opportunities
While dementia is a progressive disease, it doesn’t have to mean the end to a fun and active life. Our specialist dementia care homes provide a full range of enjoyable and stimulating activities, with a named activity co-ordinator responsible for making it all happen. Crafts, gardening (both homes have fabulous outdoor space), massage, movie nights, exercise classes – it’s all going on, and if somebody wants to try something new and different, we’re up for that too! We also ensure that each person can continue to do the things they enjoyed doing before moving in, with support from staff, for as long as it is enjoyable for them.
Both homes also have good links with the local community and regular outings are arranged to pubs, restaurants, the cinema, shops and local parks. Family and friends are also very welcome to join in with activities too. Our door is always open to you, whether you want to add your voice to our lively choir, get messy with some scrapbooking or just pop by for a coffee and chat.
